So why did I start collecting autographs?

Well, my girlfriend is an Arsenal supporter and a fan of Freddie Ljungberg. So for Christmas 2003 I thought I’d try to get her a signed photo of him. I didn’t really want to pay a small fortune for an autograph off ebay or some other autograph website so I decided to write to him at the club, and, well, just ask for one…

So I wrote a polite letter to Freddie, then playing for Arsenal, saying how much my girlfriend would like a signed photo of him and if it wasn’t too much trouble, could he please send her a signed photo as it would make a fantastic Christmas present for her.

That was November 2003… Weeks went by… Nothing…

Then out of the blue, in March 2004 an envelope arrived. I opened it and inside, you’ve guessed it, was an autographed, signed photograph of Freddie Ljungberg. It arrived in perfect condition with an accompanying letter from Arsenal thanking me for taking the time to write to Freddie in the first place, and hoping that my girlfriend enjoyed Freddie’s picture.

Well my girlfriend was pleased with her present, but not as much as me. I was hooked. In the six years since, I have collected over 300 signed autographs from Premiership and International footballers, including some of the best players of the modern era such as Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Michael Ballack, Wayne Rooney, Petr Cech, David Beckham, Patrick Vieira, John Terry, as well as over 100 signed photographs of well known celebrities, actors, actresses and other famous people.

This website is to showcase my Football Autographs collection, as well as giving advice, tips and addresses for anyone else out there who wants to start autograph collecting.
